About the Bat Hound

Dan (aka, “The Bat Hound”)

Thanks for visiting the website.  The purpose is simple: to load the pages with slowpitch softball related content.  Of course, some material is related to baseball and fastpitch softball, and even other sports.  But primarily slowpitch gets the attention.  Explore and discover links to videos on the Bat Hound YouTube channel (e.g. ASA bat reviews, product reviews, bat comparisons, swings tips, and more), Bat Hound merch, the Bat Hound Top Dogs Bat Series, and products I recommend for any softball lover.

As for the whole Bat Hound thing, it all began in the spring of 2018.  I had watched a number of slow pitch softball bat reviewers through that previous year and I noticed two things.  First, I was not seeing any lefty swings!  Second, I repeatedly heard that the Demarini Juggy was not at the top of the list for favorite bats.  As a lover of the Juggy myself, I could not believe it.  Could they be right?  Was there really a better bat out there for me than the Juggy?  It was time to go on the hunt.  And that is why the channel was launched, and that is why I have used the slogan, “sniffin” out the best ASA bats there are.”  Well, long-story-short, it has been a fun journey.  I have met some neat people along the way.  I have learned a lot more about bats than I would have imagined.  I have discovered some interesting tips from softball geniuses.  Oh, and I found out it was true, there was a better bat than the Juggy out there for me…at least for now…

Just a quick note about me.  I played baseball through college (many years ago now) where I learned to love hitting off the tee, and still love it today.  I currently live in Milwaukee, WI with my wife and three kids.  I am a pastor by vocation and love playing softball.
