Bat Hound Product Recommendations
How I choose products
Generally speaking, I approach trying out a product the same way I approach reviewing a bat - give it a lot of use before I give my opinion. This way I have a good feel for the product and am informed about the performance. I am not crazy about every product I try. But this page showcases some of the ones I am a big fan of. To be clear, some of the products I received free to review, and some of them I can offer affiliate codes. But that is not why I like them. If you are able to try them out yourself, I hope you will have the same enjoyable experience with them. Finally, if you love a product do not see it here, feel free to connect with me and let me know. So long as time allows, I am always looking to try out more.
Pop Toss Green Pitching Machine
Affiliate code, “LIVEBP”, saves you $8. My family bought me this pitching machine for my birthday in 2018 and I have loved it ever since. It is a pitching machine that does not use batteries or electricity, and still delivers a great pitch for batting practice – shorter than regulation but still 10’-12’, or lower if desired.. Check out my initial review here, and a comparison to the Jugs Toss, here. Follow this link to learn more and purchase.
UpBucket Combo
Affiliate code, “BATHOUND”, saves you $5. This is technically two products: the UpBucket and the Pick-UpBucket. It is part ball caddy and part ball picker-upper. Both buckets combined can hold up to fifty-two, 12” softballs (more baseballs or tennis balls). When it comes time to pick up all the softballs, just tap down the Pick-UpBucket over each ball and it escapes into the bucket from the bottom-side. No more bending over for every ball! Check out my initial review here. Follow my affiliate link to learn more and purchase.
Pop Toss The Beast
Affiliate code, “BATZIP”, saves you $12. This is a weighted training bat that allows you to insert weighted rods inside the barrel, as well as added weights on the handle knob. This means you can take normal batting practice with it. That is right, have fun taking batting practice and get stronger in the process – that sounds like a plan! Check out my initial review here. Rukket Sports ARMD Pro Batting Tee
I never thought a tee could be this durable. At the time of writing this description this tee is approached 50,000 swings, and the top portion is still without a single crack! It has a wide range of hitting heights, even going up to four feet high, which is great for slow pitch softball players. It also breaks down easily and is therefore great for transporting. Check out my initial review here, as well as the 50,000 swing update here. Follow this link to learn more and save 15%.
Schutt Sports BP Barrel
I saw this product in a store and was eager to try it out. It may look like a ordinary garbage can, but guess again. It holds around eighty-eight, 12” softballs for me, which are placed on a basket sitting on a spring. When more softballs are tossed on the basket the spring lowers. As more are taken off, the softballs spring up to the top so that you never have to go digging to the bottom. You’re back will thank you over the years. Check out my initial review here. Pocket Radar Smart Coach
I think it was for almost a solid year a viewer friend hounded me to purchase a radar to test and compare exit velocity on bats. Eventually, I did so, but reluctantly. But, I was pleasantly surprised from day one! While I do not look to exit velocity comparisons alone for comparing bats, I do find it a helpful way to gauge bats. Plus, it is simply fun to use, and especially motivating when in the garage in the winter hitting off the tee into a net constantly. Check out my initial review here (coming soon). You can purchase using my Amazon Associate link here, or on the Pocket Radar website here.
Precision Impact Softball Slug
Affiliate link saves you 15%. These are weighted training balls that are roughly the size of a slow pitch softball, and weigh 15oz (over twice the weight of a typically softball). The are great if you have a small hitting space, or are working to train the hitting muscles to power through the ball. Good durability on these as well. Check out my initial review here, as well as a durability update here.
RW Rugged Wear Men’s Split Cowhide Leather Palm Gloves
If you take high volume batting practice, these gloves may be a good investment. Personally, I do not like wearing batting gloves in games, but when taking a lot of swings throughout a week, the become necessary. However, batting gloves can get pricey when you run through them constantly. This is where gloves like this come in. They may be a little bulkier, but I found these ones to be fairly thin and comfortable, still giving good grip on the bat, and with good durability. Follow this link to learn more and purchase.
WristWidget
Note: I am not a medical professional and am not giving medical advice! I do not know if it was from doing burpees or from a lot of swings, but I was experiencing wrist pain. I tried one wrist brace that was much more bulkier and warmer than the WristWidget. It saw slow improvement. But then I was recommended the WristWidget and found great results. Though it looks small I found it to be supportive and much cooler, and I healed up much faster. You can purchase using my Amazon Associate link here.
Tomight elbow brace (tennis elbow)
Note: I am not a medical professional and am not giving medical advice! At times my left elbow and/or forearm with get sore after doing high volume bp, especially during the winter months. It was suggested for me to try an elbow brace. This two pack was the only purchase I made, as these provide the help I have needed to heal up. I do not know how they work, but they do. You can purchase using my Amazon Associate link here.
SportsTape Hockey Tape
For bat grips, my preference is hockey tape. I used to use a knob cuff on the handle with hockey tape underneath. But thanks to the recommendation of a viewer, I tried out the balloon grip style on bats and love it. Check out my demonstration video on that method here. Either way, this hockey tape has worked well for me. Personally, I like the value of the six pack of tape. You can purchase using my Amazon Associate link here.
Pop Toss Black Pitching Machine
Affiliate Code, “LIVEBP”, saves you $8. Ok, so this product is not for slow pitch softball, but since it is a sibling to the Pop Toss Green Pitching Machine, above, it is worth a mention. If you know anyone who plays baseball or fastpitch softball, this too is a great product. Think of it more like short toss. But again, there is no need for batteries or electricity – batting practice you can take on your own. I can only imagine how many hours I would have used this product as a kid. Check out my initial review here. Follow this link to learn more and purchase.
African Shea Butter
This is 100% African Shea Butter, which is what I use to help heal up after blisters. Check out my video on caring for callouses and blisters here. You can order a single container using my Amazon Associate link here, or save a little and grab the two-pack with my Amazon Associate link here.
